Allison Dvorak, AIA, CPHC, was invited to volunteer with the NCARB Item Development Subcommittee which is responsible for writing and editing new items for the new ARE 5.0 exam. The new exam will launch November 1, 2016. Allison serves as an item writer for the Project Development and Documentation division, which assesses objectives related to the integration and documentation of building systems, material selection, and material assemblies into a project and tests the candidates understanding of and abilities in integration of civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and specialty systems into overall project design and documentation.
Throughout this year, Allison is responsible for developing up to 20 questions that would potentially be used on the new exams. There are three on-site meetings where the Subcommittee gets together to discuss questions that are being developed to ensure that each test has the highest quality questions pertaining to the architecture field. Allison recently traveled to Washington D.C. to actively participate on the committee.
