Shepard Hall Laboratory

Client: South Dakota Board of Regents | Location: Brookings, South Dakota

Date of Completion: 1996 | Area: 1,200 SF

Design Summary

This project originated as a fume hood replacement for Room 104 Chemistry Lab located in Shepard Hall on the SDSU campus. Following further investigation, it was determined that due to code and technology changes the entire lab needed to be redesigned. A new orientation of modular workstations created a much more effective layout in terms of number of student stations, equipment location, ADA accommodation and safety. Interior finishes and lighting were completely upgraded. Student work station modules were custom designed to accommodate secure student instrument storage for three separate class sections, greatly improving the overall utilization of the lab for the university.

Koch Hazard Architects provided complete architectural, interior design and construction administration services for this renovation.
