1888 Barn Restoration

Client: City of Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation Department | Location: Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Date of Completion: 2002 | Area:

Design Summary

The Barn’s design is unique in that the front façade was extended with a false “storefront” for commercial use as a stagecoach stop. Koch Hazard performed extensive historic research starting with the only photograph in existence of the Barn on its original East Sioux Falls site. Complete restoration of the exterior was accomplished using original historic components as a guide for reproduction of new materials where required.

Koch Hazard Architects provided complete architectural, interior design and construction administration services for this historic restoration.
