Woods Fuller Shultz & Smith wanted a suite of offices that would allow for continued growth while evoking an image of permanence and tradition, elegance and intimacy all within a limited budget. To meet these goals Koch Hazard Architects zoned the office into public, semi-private and support areas. Wood is liberally used to warm the grouping of public areas: reception, library and boardroom. The Boardroom’s curved glass offers a panoramic view of historic downtown. Three skylit groupings of paralegal and legal assistant workstations minimize the distance between staff and the attorneys whose offices form the perimeter of the suite. This project is a 1998 AIA South Dakota Design Merit Award winner.
