Koch Hazard Architects was recently awarded the Lincoln Hall renovation project on the South Dakota State University campus. The building has served as the academic facility for the Department of Music. By 2019, the Music Department will relocate to the Performing Arts Center, opening up space in Lincoln Hall for other high-quality academic use.
President Calvin Coolidge dedicated Lincoln Hall as the University Library in 1927. The building was converted into academic and general storage space in the late 1970s. Lincoln Hall contains unique spaces including the library stacks area, Peterson Recital Hall and the Schultz Reading Room. Koch Hazard Architects will lead the historic rehabilitation of the project to meet the contemporary functional needs of the faculty and students, while maintaining the building’s historical character.
