Client: Children's Home Society | Location: Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Date of Completion: December 2022 | Area: 48,000 s.f.

Design Summary

The new Children’s Home Shetler for Family safety (formerly Children’s Inn) is a critically needed replacement facility providing needed support, resources, and space to serve victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse. Adjacent to the Empower Campus and located at the corner of 8th Street and Saint Paul Avenue, the 48,000 s.f. building’s shape and materials are residential in character to blend with the surrounding neighborhood and provide a familiar and safe feeling shelter for those seeking help or assistance. Many mature trees will remain within an enhanced landscape to help convey a quality of calm dedication, as a backdrop to the work of empowering victims to overcome trauma and rebuild their lives, free from abuse.

Koch Hazard Architects provided complete architectural, interior design and construction administration services for this building.
